mbits Steinbeis Transferzentrum

Allgemeine Informationen

mbits (formerly known as "Medical Embedded Systems", MES) is a spin-off company of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ, Heidelberg, Germany). mbits also represents a working group within the Division of Medical and Biological Informatics (MBI, Head: Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Meinzer). The group was founded in 2011 with a focus on the development of medical imaging applications on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The possibilities of modern, mobile devices already arrived in our daily private life. These possibilities must also be available in modern health-care systems where data accessibility and treatment at the point-of-care are crucial factors to ensure both efficiency and the best possible treatment for the patient.

mbits was recently awarded with the Prinz-von-Hohenzollern Innovation Award 2013. This yearly award honors outstanding spin-offs in the Rhein-Neckar region.
